SCHEDULING + LOGISTICS

If you've looked through my galleries and think we're a good fit, reach out! All session participants/clients agree to my Terms of Service.

What about payment?
Full payment is due before your session begins. A non-refundable $100 retainer/booking fee (which counts towards your final fees) is due upon booking.

Where do sessions take place?
Typically, sessions take place outdoors or around my clients’ homes. I’m happy to provide location suggestions within the Seattle metropolitan area. Travel is included for local destinations, within about a one-hour radius of Downtown Seattle (visible on this map). For locations falling outside the map, my travel time will be billed at $75/hour so I can help cover the cost of traveling back and forth.

What if I'm running late?
Please text me at my provided mobile number (in your confirmation email) right away. I know life happens so the sooner I know, I can help adjust my schedule with other clients.

What happens if I suddenly need to cancel or reschedule?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please let me know as soon as possible. As life happens, I do allow one reschedule per session. After one reschedule, any additional reschedule for the same session will incur a $50 fee. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the shoot, or no shows, will incur the full session fee.

What's the best time of day for photo sessions?
Light is pretty essential with our time together. Generally two hours AFTER SUNRISE or two hours BEFORE SUNSET are the best for outdoor lighting if the sun is actually shining.

What if it rains during my outdoor session?
I photograph clouds or sunshine. If the weather is particularly terrible (think sleeting snow), then we work to mutually reschedule. I recommend bringing an umbrella or two, and a comb to readjust your hairdos.

What should I Bring?
Not much except a few tricks to help your session be a smooth. Highly recommend bringing jacket or sweater options for kids, especially as they can sometimes get cold. Toys or incentives “bribes” are totally fine, too.

WHAT TO WEAR

Can I do a wardrobe change during my session?
For full sessions, absolutely yes! I recommend you bring 1-2 easy-to-change-into outfits with you in an equally easy to carry bag.

What should I wear?
Solid colors are great, especially in the dreary months. Think three colors or fewer that complement each other. And please no "matchy matchy" styles! We want the focus to be on you, not on your outfit.

COVID POLICY

How will the COVID-19 "new normal" affect our session?
Just like all business owners, I'm working hard to follow Washington State Public Health guidelines to keep my clients – and myself – safe. Here's what that looks like right now:

  • Sessions are held outdoors whenever possible. I do hold indoor sessions and check in with each of my clients ahead of time.

  • I work hard to make sure there is no overlap between families.

  • I will wear a mask at all times even as I am vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine and boosted.

  • If you or a family member is feeling sick at all, we'll find a new time during a make-up day. The same goes for me.

RATES

Why do I charge what I do? My hourly weekend portrait rate is $825 per hour currently. This is driven primarily by demand and the cost of doing business in Seattle.

When I first started out and charged $100 a session, I got a lot of demand but couldn't handle it. Several years later, here I am. I’ve made several large investments in my equipment, product & service, which including photographing with the top-of-the-line Nikon equipment. I also have duplicate equipment, insurance, a reliable backup system for your images, and most importantly a tremendous experience photographing YOU.

AFTER YOUR SESSION

When and how will I receive my photos?

  • For full portrait sessions, expect a link to a gallery around 3 weeks from your session (unless other arrangements have been made) and after your final payment is processed.

  • For weddings, expect 4-6 weeks during the busy season (that’s a lot of photos to process!). Less during the slower season.

  • You'll be able to download your photos directly through your gallery site. Your photos can be downloaded and shared as you like, please no alterations to the photos. If you need help downloading the files, please let me know.

How many photos can I expect from my session?

  • For Full Sessions, I guarantee at least 45 photos in your Online Gallery.

  • For Weddings, I usually guarantee 100 shots per hour of photography coverage.

  • Mini Sessions are more limited as they are meant to be a “taste” of full session.

Do you retouch photos?
I use my own custom finishing for final sets and will retouch minor blemishes, etc. in the most natural way possible when requested. I ask that clients do not retouch photos themselves. Additional retouching is available upon request for an additional fee since it can take a lot of time.

Do you offer black and white versions of my images?
Every image is originally photographed in color, but I also can provide custom black & white conversions per request.

PRINTING + SHARING Your Photos

Can I share and print my photos?
Absolutely, and please do! If you don’t mind, I soooo appreciate a photo credit (“Goodsell Photos”). I appreciate you sharing these with your friends and family.
